I feed my two on it and they're fine --- its not for everyone though probably because of use of cereals but for me needs must as I can no longer affford the other brands anymore (it now costs me £8 to feed two cockers a month)

Thats exactly my problem at the moment - the cost!  :-\

Dr John's looks good - the ingredients are practically the same as Burns!

But for a 15kg bag -

Burns = £42

Dr John's = £14

blimey has Dr Johns gone up that much --- the gold can be too rich for them sometimes and mine are on the silver. I know some say that with Burns you feed less but it wasn't enough bulk for my two and a 15kg bag of Dr Johns lasts about a month.

As far as I can see, Burns and Dr Johns are different foods altogether :huh:  Burns does not use meat derivatives, cereals or antioxidants.  Not suggesting it is a better food for your dog, just that the ingredients may explain the difference in price :blink:

My boss feeds her springer Dr John gold, but we get food at near trade price through work so she was only paying about £8-£9 per 15kg bag. Her dog is absolutely stuffed with energy all the time at work- I've only seen her tired once or twice in the four years they've had her! Apparently she does settle down at home though  :shades:.

Dr John is VAT free as well which is why its a bit cheaper -- am under no illusions that Burns is a better food though

Burns is a good food on the face of it but it doesn't do for all dogs - I wouldn't go back to Burns - Dax didn't thrive on it but is doing ok on AG and part barf.  In these times of recession, cost will come into what choice people have for food depending on budget, though if the dogs do ok on the cheaper foods then thats the main thing I guess  ;)

They love Dr John's!!

I ordered the Gold and like you said Penny I think its a bit too rich for them so might order the Silver next time but we'll see how they go!
