I am out 2 to 3 times a week beating ... My sprocker Broc has been out on one shoot, Wellie is still very much in training. Two of the three shoots I attend I don't take a dog yet as they have to be very steady ... which broc isn't .... but there is always next season for him and for wellie.

hare is a banned word in our dictionary >:(  had a horrid shoot a couple of years ago close to the stonehenge lovely shot bird sent Bonnie out for a retrieve half way there she bumps up a hare and off she goes >:( all that training straight out the window flat fields for miles with a lorry on the main road that she was heading straight for, good thing one of the guns shot at her and put her off or I might have lost one of my weims.  Done loads of training on hare on an enormous hill since then on the downs and they all leave them bumped or not :shades: :shades:

My worst is mink, one of the shoots I go on has loads of the b*ggers on their river, lots of traps are set for them but they aren't making much headway from what I can see.

Alfie's done that with a hare too on a shoot last year, he went out for a retrieve, sprang a hare and quite literally hared off >:(  Tilly also saw it spring but completely ignored it and went on with her job but for Alfie it was too much. He came back after about 5 minutes hare-less and retreive-less but looking mighty pleased with himself ::)

I work my labs, but my spaniel is too young at present, so I'LL be getting him ready for an introduction for next season.

I hope its ok to post pictures of other breeds.

aaah see I don't call it 'demons' (although I know plenty of lab people who do  :005: ) I prefer 'a pocket rocket who is plucky, bold, courageous, independent, full of joy and has a massive heart and a wicked sense of humour  :luv: '

the local gun dog trainer here rolls his eyes when you bring a cocker to him - he is a Lab man through and through and doesn't appreciate the quirks of our working cockers  :005:

Your labs are lovely :luv:  The breeder of my gold dog breeds and trains Labs, Springers and Cockers and he said to me that if you want an easy life, get a Lab, if you want a bit of a challenge get a Springer and if you're totally crazy... well, chances are you're a member of this forum :lol2:
