From a boating forum this evening:

There is a Spaniel dog that has been found wandering about the marina at Braunston. Its condition seems to infer it may have been lost for a while. It is at present being cared for by one of the marina staff.

My sister had a spaniel follow her along that tow path as she walked to work which was lost (although that was last year now). She took it to work with her and phoned the owner as it had a collar & tag and they came to collect it - I wounder if it's the same dog as apparently it wasn't the first time this dog had got out    Will make a few phone calls
