Stolen working Cockers - Claydon, north Bucks - please cross post
« Reply #1 on: January 09, 2010, 02:45:08 PM »
(copied over from a post on another Site)

Two working cockers were stolen from their kennel in Claydon, N Bucks at 10am on New Years eve.  They went within minutes of going back in their kennel after a walk so its likely they were specially targetted

Their markings are quite distinctive and as they belong to the father of a local gamekeeper, they are quite well known to the shooting community there so it is thought that they will be moved on quickly.

Please can I ask you to keep an eye out for them?

For some reason I cannot paste the reward poster with their pic here and the gender of them is not stipulated.  One is a dark silky-looking liver with a long thin white stripe down its chest, running from just above the sternum to right under its belly, and without being able to see the relevant area,  looks like a bitch from build and face.  The second is a bit more solid and is liver with roan (I don't know what the correct terminology for that would be)..  Its head is liver with a completely roan muzzle; the roan then running straight up the centre of its head and finishing in a big roan spot on top of its head

There is a reward being offered and people are being asked to contact Paul (the owner) on 07793 6013523 for further information etc

I have to say I find this a deeply worrying trend and know that in all of the cases these dogs are not 'tools for a job' but much loved members of the family

Hope that they are soon found - and please keep all your lovely wcs safe

Any idea from experience of other thefts where they are most likely to be moved on to, in this country?

I would guess they were stolen to order as appears so they could be anywhere. I dont know the full details as I copied and pasted the thread from another forum I go onto. I guess the more forums its on the better chance of someone noticing them. ;)

Hope they're found soon  :-\  they don't sound unlike 90 percent of the solid liver working cockers or liver roan working cockers I know so not sure of how 'distinctive' they are - never the less it's awful, and I hope they're home soon  :'( :'(

Have just seen this through another network - please cross post as much as possible, fingers crossed for the safe return on these dogs

Please cross post this email as much as possible.

Dear all,

The father of my Gamekeeper, Paul Seaton, had his two working cocker
spaniels stolen from the kennel by his house on New Years Eve. He
had just taken them for a walk, put them back in the kennel and gone
into his house to make a cup of tea. Within a few minutes they had gone!

Two males, entire, one 7 years, the other 4 years, docked, colour liver and liver roan.
They are well known dogs, so easily recognisable. There is a
substantial reward for information leading to or the safe return of these dogs.

Anyone who has shot here will remember seeing them work.  Their markings are very distinctive, so
they should be easily recognisable. Because of this, it is probable
that the thieves will move them out of this area, so they could
reappear anywhere.

Sadly, it seems that theft of working dogs is becoming increasingly
common. I now realise what a terrible effect it has on those
affected.
Our whole shooting community is deeply shocked, angry and determined
to get the dogs back. We are also keen to ensure this does not happen
again.

Could I please ask that you spread the details of these two dogs as
widely as possible in your area, and please put up the poster
(depending on where you are you may need to add North Bucks after
Claydon). Any help you can give would be very much appreciated.

With Best Wishes for the New Year

Edmund Verney
