Dylan has always done this :luv:  So we keep a special toy at the door for him to carry around when visitors arrive, better than him jumping up.  He parades around with a wiggle bum and a stiff walk on the back legs. :005:

William always does this when I come home and when I get up in the morning and come downstairs. He's usually desperate to go out and pee by then but still has to go to the toybox and find one of his favourite toys and present it to me before he'll go in the garden :luv:

Louis never does it though :dunno:

All 3 three of the cockers who have shared their lives with me have always had to have presents to 'give' - and have been known to disappear for ages to find something suitable if nothing happens to be near the door at the time  :D - and that stiff-legged walk is so sweet and characteristic of them all as well  :luv:

Wilf does a lot of this and he'll nudge you with the toy while making funny growly noises :luv:

Charlie does this too...generally with a shoe or my slipper (as they are the closest things to the front door). If he can't find anything within close proximity to the door I have to take my shoe/slipper off to give him to give to me.

He also watches out the window with a toy/shoe in his mouth.
My beautiful little boy Charlie :)

Riley does this too.  It doesn't have to be a toy - it depends what is lying around and if he can find anything he'll drag his bed to greet us!!

Cockers are gundogs - it is in their nature to "present" something.  ;)

Knew there was a link with the breed but that sums it up very simply

Well I've got 3 useless gun dogs and one that only presents teddies after eating her tea. :luv:

  • To understand a cocker, you need to be a cocker!

Yes Alfie does this, in fact he does it anytime he is excited.  He also insists on taking a toy outside with him for a wee, I usually try and grab it before he goes outside because he always leaves it outside in the rain  :'(

He always has a toy in his mouth when we go out for a walk, I then have to grapple with him to let go and leave it in the hall, just recently he has taken to grabbing the draught excluder.  He holds it in the middle and it is about 3 ft long, looks hilarious, like he has a massive sausage in his mouth.   :005:

When I go out I HAVE to leave my girls something to 'present' to me on my return.
I have three old tea towels (affectionately named 'the rags') :005: that I leave in the hall for my return.  If I don't leave anything, the girls are beside themselves for something to 'present'. I have to leave three in case one girl picks up two and then the other would be absolutely distraught and feel utterly worthless.  :005: :005:

Diesel also does this however it's embarrassing when he presents visitors with 'presents' from the dryer - I'm pretty sure they don't appreciate me bra and knickers as welcome gifts  :005:
