hi all ,,as we are looking forward to taking jasper and mabel on weekends away in the caravan with us,we thought as not everyone is a dog lover,and we don,t want to coup them up after a run how would we get round it,well today we found these lreally large corkscrew type things that you hammer into the ground and then can affix the lead to them so as not to annoy people,this way they are us until such time we think it,s okay to let them loose,personally i,d have them loose all the time,but like i say,not everyone likes dogs round them and being such friendly cockers,it,s likely they will be in someone elses caravan :lol: :lol: :P
has anyone else got them,and what did you think of them ;)
might have to tie myself up to,cause anyone who doesn,t like dogs,well......

Ive seen them and i think personnaly that there is no need for them if your dog is well trained. But they are good in some ways cause some people are scared of dogs. P.S Don't you correct your writing :D

yes i agree with you,iwould personally have them free all the time but like i say,not everyone likes dogs,and to avoid a row,i prefer to be a responsible dog owner,than getting moaned at,{i,m not good at getting moaned at,short fuse,lol}

Hi Ziggy, my son uses these for his two Cairns, he seem to think there alright, as long as there in full view. I'm not to sure about useing them for a small pup. though <_< its so easy for a lively little pup to get tangled up.

i did wonder about that barb,but,they will only be used in full view ;) when we are all sitting together,it,s something that always comes in handy ;) as and when you need it,you know what it,s like,better prepared than not at all,hopefully we won,t use them,but if the situation arises,it,s there,xxxxx

I have one of these and used it when we were in a caravan this year, I only put them on there when we were sitting out to eat or just sunbathing as I could keep an eye on them both and they had enough rope to wander around without getting into mischief :rolleyes: (my two are not the best behaved and Blue would run to anyone for a cuddle :unsure: so better safe than sorry ;) )

I use one of these when we go camping, its a case of having to, camping and caravan sites will NOT allow dogs to be off leash :huh: no matter how well trained your dog is! Indie is fine on hers, like the others, shes only on it when we sit out which when camping is most of the time, even in the rain :blink: Just be careful where you stick the spike in, not too close to the elec hook-up, the cables may not be very deep, if unsure check with the wardens.

We have two - one for the rabbits :P and one for the dog. We are tent campers, and I wouldn't be with out it!
Firstly for safety reasons - if I'm cooking or chopping with a sharp knife low down, I don't want Tia, full of love, coming over to say hallo or have a nose about. Likewise when the gas lamp is lit, if she's not asleep in bed I don't want a little bump to burn the tent and us to cinders. :unsure:
Secondly for the sake of other campers - Tia is very nosey and she's confident now, and will go off on her own to visit :rolleyes:
Some campsites will only allow dogs 'under control' as Emma says, so it allows her to be out in the air with us. :)
On the beach they're great too for some of the same reasons.

We have one too, I think it's great. I think that very few cockers could be trusted to stay in one place when other more interesting things could be happening :rolleyes: :D . Better safe than sorry. Ours came with a coiled lead which is great for a dog as it stops any tangling but it's too strong for a pup so I'd use a normal lead or long line with it. As long as they're kept within sight, and out of the sun I think they're really useful. What am I saying - Sun??? not likely :lol:

We have 2 of them, but I have never used it. Always when we go on holiday we take them with us, but till now we don't have to use them at all.

I agree these things are extremely useful (bit like using crates at home!). No matter how well trained you dog is I would never trust mine to sit still long enough not to get into trouble (and to leave Ruby in such a long down-stay/sit-stay would be unfair).
I've got one so I can carry it in my backpack as there isn't always a tree or fencepost when you need one.
I can see how useful they would be for camping as well especially at night.
I got mine from petplanet but you can get them from most petshops now (even the small ones)

:) They are very usefull for camping, but I don't use mine at night, Indie sleeps with us in the inner tent at night, she just as good as a hot water bottle on your feet :lol: when camping you need one :D

We took fern willow and Maisey away with us (maisey was staying while her mummy and daddy were away.) Fern and willow were fine - but every five minutes Maisey went missing and was found sitting in the middle of the field with her ball in her mouth! :rolleyes: Monster!

We use these as well, as Abby would be into everything if we didn't :D most sites will only allow dogs on leads, but I did stay on a great site years ago where not only did Billy not only not have to wear a lead but he had 12 of the owners dogs to play with :blink:

dunno if it's been mentioned but I saw them in the pound/cheap shop in skeggie when I was there recently... 99p I think.. :o had one at old house but left it as I couldn't unsrew it :lol:
