To cut or not to cut

Jarvis has a tuft attached to a certain part of his anatomy - it tends to get a bit damp when he's been for a wee - do you think we should (carefully) trim it?

My vet told me to make sure I keep that particular tuft trimmed short  ::) so now it gets a quick but careful trim whenever Loki stays still enough. So my vote is yes trim but very carefully.

Surely the hair is a barrier to foreign objects which protect the 'delicate part'- no?

It only need be a few mm long to guard against foreign objects - not the quiff that seems to grow with alarming regularity  :005:

I thought I'd read once that it had to be about an inch long for aiming purposes. As if it's too short, they wee on themselves. :dunno:

Agreed.  I wouldn't chop it too short.... but then my boy dog is a lurcher so his willy-tuft is quite short anyway  :005:
