Three Feeds To Two
« on: September 09, 2004, 03:12:06 PM »
Just qnother query from a new cocker Mum!!

Daisy is now twelve weeks old and has started to really enjoy her meals. She has one at 7.30, one at 12.30 and one at 5.30.  Am I supposed to reduce this to two meals at some point and how do I do it as she really looks forward to her lunch??

Any advice would be much appreciated    :)

Our puppies stay on 4 meals a day until 4 months old, then 3 meals a day until 6 months old when meals go down to 2 a day for the rest of their lives. Don't hurry to reduce the meals down too early - puppies have small stomachs & need small, fairly frequent meals while they are growing. Most good breeders supply a comprehensive diet sheet which gives this sort of info but perhaps your breeder forgot to do this ;)

Lottie is 5 months old now and still happily eats three meals.
I will probably reduce her to two when she is 6 months, but I'll see how she is then.
She is quite a dainty, little girl but really enjoys her food, so if she needs 3 meals for a bit longer then I'll continue on.

I did 4 meals a day until 4mths then 3 meals until 8 mths and then 2 meals from 8mths onwards, forever.
