Jabs
« on: February 13, 2010, 08:52:09 PM »
Hi all,

Ben has had his 2nd jab today and the vet said it will be 14 days before he can go out,
The first vet said 7-10 days (which i've always been told it is)

Which is it???
I was very confused when my hubby brought him home from the vets

I always thought it was 10 days too, think some vets do say 14 days, maybe it depends on the course of jabs - (i.e.manufacturers  have different effective dates)

Our vet says 7 days, but some say longer just to be on the safe side, but the pup should be fully protected within around 5 days after the 2nd vaccination. :D

What was the name of his vaccination?

I think it is confusing but in the scheme of things you're only talking seven days and I'd be inclined to follow my vets advice. I know some may be over cautious but if you take advice from someone contrary to a vet are they going to guarantee your puppy's safety?

Did you see two different vets at the same practice? If so I would just give them a call, explain you had conflicting advice and ask them to clarify.

Yeah, when i took him for the first jab the vet said after his 2nd jab it would be 7 days
My husband took him for his 2nd one, didn't realise i'd been told a different time scale
