Teenager?
« on: November 21, 2004, 04:28:56 PM »
Our dog Sweep is approaching 9 months and has started acting a little like a teenager. He never barked for the first 8 months but now has started barking when it is time for his walk and when the paper is delivered. He also sometimes barks at other dogs in the street. He doesn't do it in a nasty way as he wags his tail while doing it. Has he become aware of a need to prove his masculinity/dominance? He also tries to nibble our fingers a lot. I am wondering whether this is just another stage or whether having him neutered would help. He is a lovely, friendly dog in general. Has anyone got any advice?

I think that Sweep is being just a normal teenage Cocker boy  :)
Try to discorouge this behaviour with distraction.
I can't see barking or nibbling fingers is a reason to castrate him
