Ripping up the grass!!!
« on: November 12, 2011, 04:11:25 PM »
Ruby is almost 12 weeks old and along with all the normal puppy biting and chewing etc she has now started ripping up great chunks of grass when we take her outside. She goes mad when she does it. I have tried distracting her, moving her along and failing all else bringing her back inside as soon as she starts it.

Anyone have any great ideas ? Is this common cocker puppy behaviour, as my lab never did this ?!

Thanks

Chloe

I have holes all over the garden it looks terrible. In this damp weather I am using the garden less (just for toileting) and taking Max out several times a day for a run around in a field instead!! This also stops him eating all my plants too which upsets his tummy. I hope they grow out of it by the summer when we will be in the garden more.

Alfie does this too, but we only had the lawn redone earlier this year and the poor thing is suffering!

We have a fence across the top of the grass so for toilet breaks etc he's just on the patio and he only goes on the grass when he's allowed and usually he is so excited by it that he tires himself out running round in circles before he remembers to chomp on the grass.

I wish he did it over the field instead, but over there he's not interested!!

Pippy used to do this, but seems to have stopped now at 6 months of age.  Not sure why or when exactly she stopped, but am just grateful she has.  :luv:

Yes ours do it sometimes.. What with the chickens as well the lawn has no chance. Ours tend to do it when it is wet or after they have done their business. The one flower bed in particular seems to attract them it appears they are the cocker coal mining company in there. Wish they had told us. :lol2:
