Hi

You would expect a puppy trainer to know what he/she was talking about and maybe this one is right, I'm not the expert.
However, I posted this 04/07/12 which is my own personal experience.

I asked the question prior to our puppies arrival whether to use collar or harness. The replies were quite mixed and once we were given the green light to venture out I'd bought both.
However, the first harness was unsuitable for my pup [Miya] and she was at this time "in between sizes" said the assistant. I opt for the harness she would grow into rather than the one she was almost to big for. Miya has grown plenty but in length not in girth so I've used a collar for some time now. Anyway the harness now fits [well almost] and the difference from collar is fantastic. With the collar I always felt [especially when she was fresh at the start of a walk] that it was an unpleasant experience for both of us. She now walks to a slack lead with the harness and it certainly looks more comfortable.

If anyone was about to ask, I'd plumb for a harness.
