Looks different
« on: September 21, 2012, 05:50:56 PM »
I'm looking at all the gorgeous pictures of your little darlings and one thing I have noticed is that all your babies have a lot of hair and are fluffy.
Alex has short hair with no curls etc?

Why is he different?
I'm starting to get concerned that he is actually mixed with working cocker too although we have his family background etc and papers.

It may just be me being paranoid
I'll try and get a good picture to pop on and see what you think

There are a lot of show cockers out there with lovely fine silky coats - think yourselves lucky not to have a yeti!!!

If you've got a Kennel Club pedigree for Alex you could post the names of his parents and previous generations on the Pedigree Research board http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/discuss/index.php?board=132.0 and see if anybody recognises them.

IMHO he does look as if he has some working in him, particularly the first picture.  That could account for the shorter, silkier coat (which I would kill for right now).  :005:

Agree, the rest of the pictures he looks a tiny bit more show.  How old is he?

I thought the same if my gypsy, even though she has an excellent well known pedigree.... But have no fear, that coat may well come in!!!!... Gypsy's coat was very sleek and silky, then she got to 6-7 months and it grew and grew and grew.... She now has the most beautiful thick coat.

Give him time!!...  :luv:

He's using all his calories to grow his bones and important bits it will come eventually. Ozzie was very sleek then it seemed to grow all at once.

He's 16 weeks, he just looks a lot taller than everyone else's, and less hair  :005:

This is a picture of Toby (on the left) and Mable.  She is three quarters show and a quarter working.  She was about 18 months old there and you can see she has quite a full coat, as her owner doesn't have her trimmed very often.  She had a coat like your puppy when she was younger.

Ha ha ha look at Toby's tongue  :lol2:
Im not overly bothered about the coat as such, I just want to make sure that the "Breeder" I bought him off hasn't mis sold me as I have paid for a pedigree "show" cocker
he just looks different to a stereotypical show style, but i suppose there could be different kinds.

Thanks Guys  :D

as Elaine said above :shades:  i'm sure some peeps will be able to help with his pedigree & you might even find some of Alex's relative's on here  :-\
