Puppy toilet training relapse?
« on: January 04, 2021, 09:26:32 PM »
We thought we had cracked it. Coco would go to the back door wine and out she would go and a treat would be given but now it's gone from just going in the kitchen and just weeing by the back door.
If she needs a poo she still asks but not a wee?
Any ideas...?

Hi, don’t know when the ‘relapse’ started, but it’s got very cold and grim over the past week...  other reason could be a uti. Is she going more frequently than usual?

Alfie has been similar, the last few days he hasn’t even bothered going to the back door, just peeing where he’s stood.
He seems to stop when told and then goes outside to finish.
May need to go back to making him go at regular intervals.

A UTI may well be the issues, if it is happening when she needs a wee.

How old is she? Toilet training can take a while (up to a year) with regular setbacks, so I wouldn't worry too much. She's still very young.

As long as you are sure there is no health issue, I would just go back to basics, take her out every hour or so and praise like mad when she performs.  Could be the weather - sometimes they just don't fancy going out in the cold or wet  ;)
