Title: Puppy club. Anybody due taking home their puppy near the end of july
Post by: Merlinpoppy on June 23, 2014, 07:49:30 PM
Thought it might be nice to have a thread (if there is anybody else) where we can all talk about our pups and hold each others hand while we wait and then when we go through the new puppy phase

Yes of course.  we are due picking up poppy on the 26th july.   Im fortunate that I have the breeder on FB so she posts lots of pics and videos.  are you guys organised.  I think ill buy another crate because the one i bought for her has sort of become the car crate. Also think a smaller 1 might be a good idea.

I've got a dog crate and small open top rabbit pen that isn't in use at the moment for my girl, I just have a couple of beds, Id tag, some more chew type toys and food to get in then I'm all sorted for her arrival in a few weeks :D

This is my girl Luna:-

She is gorgeous.  Poppy is the same.  Black with a little bit of white on her chest and paws.  I dont think poppy will need any toys etc for the rest of her life lol.  She has 4 beds, so many toys, 2 collars and leads, training pouch and whistle and loads of other things lol

I definitely need some more toys lol

This is what I've got so far plus her set up in my room, I've yet to get 2 beds, more treats, more toys, food to change on to, ID tag and a proper spaniel bowl for when she's older. I still need to set up her pen for downstairs.

Savic do a good cocker bowl and its pretty cheap.  I bought spaniel bowls on ebay for merlin and poppy with their names on.  Really good quality.  Red dingo is my favourite for collars and leads

Can I ask what size crates you have? I have a 42" and a 46" which I think are going to be to large to begin with. What about 36" for car esp when puppy first comes home?
I did buy bowls this week and a couple of toys- a little rabbit and a blue treat holder chew toy.Im trying to hold myself in check until puppy is here and I know what sort of thing he likes. With previous dogs I've always frequently bought and rotated toys that puppy has free access to and kept a few high interest toys back to only be played with when I am there. This seems to focus interest on the toys rather than furniture! I'm just going to go and have a little look at red dingo! ;)

Mine is a 42" Crate but is second hand from my beautician and can't afford a new one for a couple of months so going to find a divider of sorts to make it smaller to start with :)

I went shopping again today lol

I bought more toys, food and a dog safety gate for the garden

I have a 24", 30" and 36" crate. Merlin has a 36" and has loads of room. We have a 30" in the car and pretty sure both will fit.

Too many- naaar never!
I plumped for a 36" crate figuring we could always use  it for the car when pup gets older.
And red dingo collar and lead is on its way! I couldn't resist!

I found zooplus and pet planet good for toys.  Pet pajamas is pretty good to.  Although, it is mildly amusing to look at their ridiculously priced items.  Beds for over £2000 but most things are normally priced.  I wanted to go to pets at home yesterday and my other half just flat refused lol.  He was driving so i couldnt argue.  I keep thinking i need to check just incase ive missed something really obvious.

I've use Pets at Home where possible but have recently been using Zoo Plus and Fetch for bits and bobs. I'm struggling on where to get a decent but cheap-ish bed in for the puppy stage lol

I grabbed poppys beds in the sale.  The kennel bed was only £5.  I also have vet bed.  http://www.dogproductsdirect.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=69_15 thats the cheapest i can find and i use the non slip back.  Since we have a cocker already we buy stuff for him anyway so i just add a few extras for the pup and take advantage of the sales

Thanks!Have added site to my bookmarks, as this looks good value specially with non-slip. I was looking for a piece to take to training for when Minstrel is laying still in between tasks, this looks ideal, as it will be light enough to carry.

We picked up our little one today and I am totally in love! He has piddled in the hall, humped my leg, killed all trousers that have 'walked' near him and chewed my hunters- all on day one  :D He is wonderful, I love every hair on his head! He's currently fast a kip on my feet - utter contentment from us both! Will try and get some photos uploaded.

We couldn't wait until 24th so picked Murphy up on Weds!!!! Its already been so much fun! Our house feels 'normal' again after having awhile without a dog. He is growing in confidence everyday & making us smile & laugh! The only problem is he has fleas.. He was treated by breeder but got lots and not due a treatment so as he not due at vets til tomorrow evening, I am going to see if I can get him some front line today....... He not v happy with interrupting playing with scratching!!!!!! Hope you enjoying your puppy too x

We bought Jake home on Tuesday, he is amazing he is sorting our 15 month old beagle out and respecting the 15 year old westie, he is great with the cats and hardly ever has accidents indoors. Is this the calm before the storm I am thinking? He had his second injection and was micro chipped this morning and was fine in the car just slept. He is already easier to train than Alice the beagle! I have never had a cocker before the only gundogs I have had are Irish setters. Any tips things to train now or get him used to I would be grateful for, thanks.

Well what a weekend! I picked up Humphrey last night in order to surprise my husband who arrived home from 4weeks away at work, he has not seen humphrey before apart from in pics so it was lovely :-)
Humphrey has been wonderful, :luv: he's an absolute joy and has been totally clean in the house today :-)
Tino has been great with him and too be honest humphrey has respected tino as the elder dog, well, apart from stealing his bed but its ok, tino just nicked his :005:

We picked up poppy on Sunday. What can I say, she's just amazing. She sleeps from 10.30 till 6.30 and she's clean and dry. She's had 2 accidents in the house but both were on the first day and both were my fault. She was at the vets yesterday getting her first jags. 3 weeks and we can take her out walking. We all adore her and she's just amazing

Luna's been a pain all afternoon today >:D I swear she's hitting the teenage stage early at almost 12 weeks. Had a walk and off lead play with a ball, just put her in the pen for a nap before tea and she's not happy at all
