Hi everyone,
I have just joined today, I have been reading over the past few days items on the forum. I am pleased to see many people from East Midlands, and hope one day I will get to meet some of you.
My husband and I went to see our "baby" last night, and will be collecting her on 31 July. She was born on 7 June 2005, and is a Blue Roan - I see there are quite a few on the forum by one of the polls. My husband's family had one many years ago, and still talk very fondly of her. She will be my first cocker. She doesn't have a name as yet, we are still thinking hard about that, but I am sure it will come to us very soon.
We have already got a dog - a rescue bitch who is about 7 years old - Kim, who is very lively and loves other animals and people, which is handy as since we got her we have also got 2 cats, one of which was a rescue cat, the 2 cats went on to have a little family of their own, 3 of their kittens stayed with us and one went to my husbands Mother, who lives along the road from us. They all get on very well and are often found playing and also cleaning each other.
We are really looking forward to bringing "baby" home on 31 July, so I had better get on and think a bit harder of a name for her.
I look forward to chatting with you all soon, and when we have a picture of her I will post it.

Thank you all for your welcome messages.
This afternoon we were once again talking names, and we have come up with Mia. My husband likes Stephen King Books, and he was reading a book last night with a female character called Mia, and yesterday I thought about Mia from the Walt Disney Films Princess Diarys - which I love watching.
So Mia will be our little princess.

:D Hello and welcome to col
Your baby sounds lovely, only a few weeks to go, make the most of weekend lay-ins :D
The wait seems endless, but its well worth it :D
I have a 1 year old blue roan called Shiloh he is my first cocker and it was the best choice I could have made, they are wonderful dogs.
Look forward to seeing pics :D

Time does fly after they arrive, but until then it's soooooo slow!!
We found the waiting so hard before we brought Buddy home at the end of February. Feels like he's always been part of the family now though. And my, how he's grown!!
Linger here for your daily cocker fix, that's what we did. It helped. :P
Oh, and shop, and sleep and puppy proof everything! :D

OK I done some of the shopping bit - Mia now has 2 collars and 2 leads  - one red set and one black and green. oh and a toy as well - I have to keep them hidden incase her new sister finds them and thinks they are hers.
Why do shops only stock red, blue and black collars and leads??? I'm sure our Princess Mia would much prefer a pink or lilac one - any suggestions, or have I got to decorate it myself - I have plenty of crystals here so I can make her sparkle
The garden was made dog proof before Kimmy arrived, I say before, as she finds great delight in jumping head first through the thick holly hedge at the bottom of the garden!!! :o and being a bigger dog she made a lovely hole which hubby has had to block off.
My husband did take 3 pictures on my mobile phone on Wednesday, not very good really, but this is our Princess Mia:

Hello Julia and little Mia - what a beauty she is
Welcome to the wonderful world of cocker spaniel ownership - never a dull moment  . I am also in Leicestershire and have a beautiful black cocker called Tilly, who is 2. She is a real little princess and loves dressing up (yes, really   !)
I know you will enjoy your little girl when she comes home and maybe we shall see you both on one of our COL get togethers in the East Midlands when she is a little older? We meet regularly at Bradgate Park, or Beacon Hill and 10 or more cockers go on the rampage together - it's great fun  :o .
Enjoy and welcome!

Welcome to COL :D .
For puppy collars you could try www.petlondon.co.uk , they have all things sparkly on there :P . All the items are quite expensive though and Mia will grow out of things remarkably quickly so you wouldn't want to much just for it to be stuck in the cupboard.
I want to get Lottie a crystal collar as her leather one isn't girle enough :D .
