Title: Wow!
Post by: Jenny on March 11, 2006, 06:21:39 PM
Hi there!  We have had our wee working cocker Barney for 3 weeks now and I have finally got round to registering after browsing here for a fortnight!  Can I just say that this is the most fabulous website ever and all you doggie lovers out there have provided us with the most valuable advice!  Although we grew up with dogs it is completely different having our own wee one and the past fortnight has been a bit of a rough ride!  However, all your messages have shown us that Barney is a 'normal' wee boy and that we're doing everything we should be to make him a happy dog!  He is only a week away from having his first walk and we're ssoooo excited we can't wait!  Anyway, just wanted to say 'thanks' to all you cocker lovers out there!
Cheers

Hi and welcome.  We've had Pringle for 3 weeks now as well and like you have found all the advice invaluable and reassuring.  Pring has been a bit of a handful at times and it is great to know that what we are going through is typical and she is just behaving like a normal cocker spaniel puppy.  It is also great to compare how she is doing with others who have got cocker babies of the same age.

Hi and welcome to COL. Guess it will be a bit quiet on here this weekend with Crufts etc.

We too found COL invaluable when Buddy was very young, and so often I realise that I have learned so much by just reading the wisdom of the more experienced dog owners on here. I met a lady today whos dog has infected anal glands and she had no idea that bulking her stools would help! Made me realise that I would have had no idea either if it wasn't for my "daily" COL fix!

Enjoy Barney. That first walk is magical!

Great that you and Barney have joined us, and well done for surviving the first three weeks relatively unscathed  Molo is now nearly two, and I still remember feeling totally shell-shocked for the first month  ::)

I am looking forward to squidgy puppy pictures of Barney  :luv:

Hi and welcome,
I thought I would be ready for the working cocker world after having working springers, but I must admit cockers make springers look like quiet sweet dosile angels.
Saying that I will never look back, I am totally smitten and bitten.
Enjoy your puppy, they grow far too fast.
Have a wonderful first walk and don't forget your camera.

Hi again,
Here's a wee photo.  Sorry it's not a very good one but we're waiting to get others developed which will follow soon.  I'm also waiting for my own digital camera which I'm getting for my birthday soon.  Yipee!!!

Hi and welcome,

I'm a newbie too with a 10 week old blue roan called Alfie.  As I'm sure you already know COL is really great with loads of advice and reasurrance that is essential in those early puppy days.  We are absolutely loving having Alfie as part of our family but there really is no overestimating how much loving time and training they need and they are such babies at this age!

Looking forward to sharing our cocker news,
Lucy and Alfie
