Hi Alex

Your photo is a bit too big for this forum - that's why you haven't been able to post it successfully so far ;) We have a maxium size of 50 Kbs for photos & Thomas' pic is over 200Kbs.

Is Thomas an American Cocker by the way? He has a bit of the look of an American & his colouring is more the buff (pale gold) colour you see in Americans.

It’s been almost a month since I posted his picture and I haven’t come back to the forms to see you comments. I apologize.

Thanks nice compliments, I did convey them to Thomas :)
Everybody seems to comment about his color, he gets that all the time… According to his papers his color is Buff.
Now, I feel little embarrassed but we did buy Thomas from the pet store. And we did not go to the store to buy a pet… he was a bit of an “impulse purchase” contrary to all advice given in pet books (but who wouldn’t buy him when hi is so cute, come on…)

His Pedigree says just Cocker Spaniel, so I guess that’s what he is. Are all Cocker Spaniels bred in USA American Cocker Spaniels? I wouldn’t think so, but who knows...

What’s the difference about American and Cocker Spaniels? I remember reading them once but I can’t remember now.
Are American Cockers more stubborn? If that’s the case he is definitely an American :)

Thanks for letting me know about the picture size. I'll make sure I remember that for the next time.

Yes any dog registered as a "Cocker Spaniel" in the US will be what we in the UK call an American Cocker Spaniel. American & English Cockers are 2 different breeds although the American descended from English Cockers originally. There are quite a few differences between the breeds but the most obvious ones are the head & the coat. An American Cocker has a squarer head with a short muzzle & the eyes are round & more pronounced than those of an English Cocker. An American has a much more profuse coat than most English Cockers. If you want more info, just have a look at these 2 websites, one for American Cockers & one for English Cockers: http://www.asc-cockerspaniel.org/ (http://www.asc-cockerspaniel.org/), http://www.ecsca.org/ (http://www.ecsca.org/)
