A breeder i had contacted to enquire about future litters phoned me earlier to say the his puppies had been born last night, and that if i still wanted a little boy then i could. Its all early days just yet, but hopefully i will be bringing him home with me late August. Long time off and i havnt tried counting the 'sleeps' just yet, although my son might ask how many soon! :005: Just while im here and on the subject, i want to thank each and every one of you for the support you have given me over the last couple of months, crying into my laptop strangely enough helped me through massively, keeping my ties on here, keeps Charley's memory very much alive, as this is really the only place i can talk about him and share what we had, as i think we all share something quite unique and sometimes quite mad (cocker spotting while screaming awww a cocker to name one.) :luv:
-
Well done Maria ;)
You won't regret it one little bit. And of course I can't wait to see some piccies and go through the choosing name thing :005:
-
That's lovely, I hope everything goes well :luv: x
-
Glad a pup is available for you :D, any idea of colours in litter yet?
-
Aww I am sooo pleased for you :D We all know the heartbreak you have suffered and wish you lots of fun and happiness with your new baby :luv: Charley will be in your heart forever :luv: xxxxx
-
Very pleased for you :D
-
Thanks :luv: :luv:
They are all black - il not get to see them for 4-5 weeks, but that phonecall earlier made it a little more real for me. And photos are a must, i know the rules :005: I wont let you down, just have to wait a while! >:(
-
So pleased for you. :D Hope this new little one can help you put your heartbreak behind you and discover the true joy of being a cocker mum :luv:
-
That's wonderful news, you must be delighted, I'm so pleased for you. I remember the night Roxy's breeder called me to say the pups were being born, I was so excited! Eight weeks sounds like ages away, but I hope it goes super fast for you as I'm sure it will! Looking forward to piccies when you get them! :luv:
-
Ohhh a little black boy :D I'm thinking Ebony :luv:
-
Fantastic News!!!, really pleased for you x
-
Hi
That is lovely news, I am so happy for you, if not a little envious, my hankering for a puppy never quite dissapears. A little all black boy sounds perfect, I think Ebony sounds a lovely name too, but I guess you will have to see him first.
-
How about Magic - as in Black Magic? ;) :D
-
I am pleased, but not excited just yet. :o I think once iv seen them etc i will be bursting inside. Iv said im going to buy a 'doggie' thing or two a week, build a little collection up for him. :D (hiding most of my purchases from my OH of course) :005: 8 weeks does seem ages away it really does, i best get back used to the early mornings ;)
We're having a little thing for Charley this weekend as its a month on saturday. Im boxing a few of his things up that i want to keep along with his ashes, also planting a 'Charley's tree' in the garden. It'l be painful, but something that needs to be done. :'(
-
I am so pleased for you. Cant wait for pics :luv:

Hope your Charley's ceremony brings comfort, I like the idea of a tree in his memory
-
I'm so pleased for you maria. I've read what you went through and it sounds awful but i don't think charley would want you to give up on cockers :luv: I hope you have many years of pleasure with you black beauty ;) and i think the tree is a lovely idea :luv:
-

Really pleased that you've found a new addition :luv:
Hope that your Charley day brings some comfort and the tree is a super idea.
-
how lovely. When we knew Mali was coming I was never out of Pets at Home :005:
-
Hope the 8 weeks goes quickley for you.
Planting a tree will help, sad at the time but helps later. We planted rose bushes.
-
That's great news, hope you enjoy your new boy :shades:, love the tree idea for Charley too ;)
-
So glad you have found someone who can help to heal some of your pain!
I've got leaky eyes all over again reading this!! ph34r
A tree for Charley sounds fantastic :luv: - but make sure it's well out of the way of any puppy teeth that might be exploring in the near future!!!
-
So happy for you, enjoy the weeks of anticipation, they're half the fun! Plus they make you appreciate the good nights sleeps that will come to an end soon! :005:
I hope the ceremony for Charley brings you all closure, it's a great idea, I wish I'd thought of it when I lost my boy.
Take care

Really pleased for you :D is your little boy to be show or worker ? :luv: :luv:
-
Fantastic news! Another little Spangle to help heal your heart :luv:
-
Aw Maria, I'm so pleased for you.
The tree for Charley sounds like a beautiful idea.
Best of luck with you're new littun.

Thanks everyone, it has been kind of left hanging, so hopefully a bit of closure is whats needed. We're going to the garden center later to have a look at something that wont grow too big.
Livercake he is a show cocker - with thanks to all the great information and advice given on here i have learned so very much, i have done it the right way, and i feel iv asked all the right questions and am very happy with the breeder who shows and judges. My partner wanted another 'Charley' which i told him wasnt a good idea, as if we went to a reputable breeder the dogs would probably be worked and the pups would need far more than what Charley needed with him being a little 'diluted'. Hope you understand what i mean?
At PAH is a nightmare place to go, or rather a nightmare place for my OH to take me! :lol2:

Really glad you have found a little pup.
I think the tree is a lovely idea. Our first joint pet was a little hamster called Poppy and when she passed away we bought a shrub that we planted for her.

Hi Maria,
that's wonderful news, i am so pleased for you :luv: and such a lovely idea, planting a tree in memory of Charley :luv: :luv:

Fantastic news - I'm so pleased you have made the decision to get another pup. :luv:
Cant wait to see the first pics, and to hear all about your first visit to see the pups. How exciting. We'll all be counting down the sleeps with you, I think!!
-
Another one with a lump in her throat and leaky eyes here! Wishing you lots of happiness with your new ickle boy. :luv:
-
Oh a new puppy!!!!I am sooooooooo looking forward to the pics! :luv:
Is the breeder sending u weekly pics until you can go see them as they develop? ......maybe not such a good idea as you will prob get too excited!!!
I bet Charile is so pleased that another cocker is being sent to look after you ;) there is nothing quite like a cocker cuddle when you are feeling down.
I know what you mean about PAT (I dont even have a dog just yet) but I LOVE going in, my OH has to grab my hand when we get out the car cause he's scared I'll get run over running into the place! He's also been known to drop me off there while the footy's on to get some peace............ :005:
-
I didnt ask for photos, i think hed had a rough long night, so i just said id stay in touch. If i do get one, i will share with you all. IV been thinking of names this morning - yikes its a tough one, i have and Oliver and my little boy wants Jasper. Not much for a mornings thinking eh! :lol2:
-
how lovely. :luv:
maybe you will get the showing bug. My sister shows her dogs and goes to ringcraft and meets loads of lovely people there. ( she has deerhounds)
Its a whole new adventure, charlie will be pleased you are getting on with things, his memory will always be with you but hopefully the happy memories not the sad ones.
-
Oooh names I love this bit.....
Chester, Murphy, Ernie, Archie, Fred, Mister, Bertie, Eddie, Frankie....
I'll be back with a few more no doubt. I also like Oliver and Jasper.
If I ever win my OH round our next one would be Ernie if I get my way (for Morcambe and Wise) but OH wants Roy ::) as in Eric Cantona and Roy Keane ::)

Oh dont mention the football theme - im a very big evertonian, and go watching them regular with my sisters, and my OH is a liverpool supporter, or i call him a glory hunter lol! I tried to sneak some everton names in when we got Charley but he sussed me out, i think i need to be more subtle! :lol2: I like Ernie, and i like Chester too. Il get on the dog naming sites later, iv not got time now because my guinea pig hutch seems to have leaked in water with all the rain last night, so im off to get some sheeting to put over it, cant believe the weather (im sure the weather girl on granada called the wind - billy wind before) :005:
-
as in Eric Cantona
We used to have a cat called Eric... Eric Cat-ona ::)

Congratulations. Getting Reggie was the best medicine for our misery after losing Marmy. A house just isn't right after it has been invaded with a cocker.
-
Hi Maria..... so excited with your news - that is so great.
A lovely little black puppy - can't wait to see the photo's.
Your pain will ease with time and I'm sure your new baby will take your mind off of things a bit. The tree idea sounds great - my Purdy is buried in my garden & at first, I couldn't even go out there but as time is going, it's getting easier. My new puppy, which I collect on Saturday, has actually taken up a lot of my thoughts. Of course, we will never forget our lost loves but you need to share your love now with the new addition.
My 8 weeks has suddenly arrived so I hope it goes as quickly for you.
Keep in touch and so pleased for you. xx
-
Fantastic :D I am so pleased for you. :D
Alfie has definately put that sticking plaster on my heart :luv: good luck with your little bundle. :D
8 weeks does feel a long time off, but once you can begin to visit them the excitement takes over with the planning and suddenly they are home with you, destroying your house, beauty sleep etc. :005: My OH said to me last night that he could see how little sleep I was getting in my face :o big baggy bags under my eyes. :lol2: Cheeky thing. :005: I must admit he let me sleep in till midday today with a hangover to make up :luv: as the MIL dropped Alfie back off at our house at 9am (he stayed there last night) think she had had enough of him. :005:
Good luck Maria, you certainly deserve a bundle of joy coming into your home right now. :luv:
Yes, pics are compulsary. ;)

Aww how rude! :005: I remember James taking pity on me with my tired eyes while i ran after Charley in my dressing gown cleaning wee up! :005: Was sent to bed one teatime for an hour or two, when i came down Charley had turned into a monster, so i resumed my duties - didnt take long for him to turn back into my little darling! :luv:
I hope it goes quickly too - got 4 weeks until i can visit! Then after that it will be a killer, knowing he's there and almost ready to be mine! My son is going to count the days down on his calender :luv: :luv: Oh and the name Oliver has gone down well with James and everyone iv mentioned it to! :D

Hi,
I'm soo excited for you. Nothing will ever replace Charley but as someone else said I'm sure he would not want you to give up on cockers. It would be killing me to wait 8 weeks but it will be worth it. Cant wait to see pics of him!

Just to say yayyyyyyyy!!! This little one will not replace charley but will help you all heal :luv:
I too can't wait, but I'm a bit all over the place as I'm still not sure if Stan the man will be coming my way in a week or two after his tests :005: If not then when i get my little one our pups will be brothers :D :D

Hiya Vicky
Yes it would be great! Seen a couple of threads on here where siblings have met up when they're older! But im sure i can drive up to you and you down here whenever possible? Have you thought of any names? Oliver is'nt set in stone just yet - im going to do a list and once i see him maybe decide which he is! The little lovely man of mine! Oooo you lot get me all giddy! Im putting the kettle on for a cup of tea now to calm down! :005:
Aww Stan the man! Like i said in my message, you'l know the right decision when the time comes! But i think you know what im hoping for! ;)
