Title: About to become a cocker slave!
Post by: SandraD on March 07, 2009, 05:40:50 PM: Hello everyone, having been lurking for a few weeks, I thought it was about time to officially join COL and to introduce myself! :D I have found your site to be a wonderful source of information and I feel a little more clued up about what we are about to let ourselves in for!!

As of 22 March our family will become "slaves" to a little blue roan and tan cocker named Monty. :luv: We are off to see our little chap again tomorrow and can't wait - I have a feeling that the next couple of weeks are going to drag by dreadfully. Monty's breeder has been wonderful, full of fantastic information and tips and never seems to tire of my endless questions - sending heart felt thanks :blink:

I look forward to introducing you all to Monty and no doubt to asking for lots of advice as we go through all the different puppy stages!!

I think the next fortnight is going to drag horribly so I will have to visit COL regularly to admire all your gorgeous dogs to make sure I get my cocker fix until Monty comes home with us. In the meantime I will read up how to post pictures and make sure I add some of our new little chap once we have got him home. :blink:

Monty was chosen for us really. :blink: When I initially contacted the breeder she had 2 puppies still available, Monty and Merlin but when I arrived Monty was the only one left. It was fate really, they are such a gorgeous bunch of puppies that I don't think I could have decided if I'd had the whole litter to choose from! :005:

Having spent hours watching/cuddling Monty- he seems quite a chilled out little chap, although he does like chewing fingers at the moment so we have found lots of "cocker friendly" things for him to play with when he comes home!

Just over a week ago I moved my kitten's (7 months old) bed, scratching post and toys into the utility room and put up Monty's crate in the kitchen. Cleo has had a good smell of all the doggy bits and pieces and has enjoyed investigating the crate. I plan on putting a stair gate across the utility/kitchen door so that she can escape from Monty if she wants to and I'm sure she will spend plenty of time on the kitchen worktops and table ph34r. All that remains is for me to keep everything crossed that she will eventually accept him.

Just a reminder though, breeders are NOT allowed to post photos of their litters anywhere on COL without permission so a few posts on this thread have been either removed or edited. This is nothing personal - the rules apply to every breeder member, whoever they are.
