2 feeds a day at 12 weeks?

My vet has said that it's fine to have Doogle on 2 feeds a day from 12 weeks old. He has adapted well to this change over the last week from 3 meals, but I do feel a bit uneasy about it, despite the vet saying it is ok.
Digby, Doogle's brother, is a solid black Show Cocker and he is much bigger than Doogle.
Doogle is being fed Taste Of the Wild which is a grain free kibble for puppies.

Personally I only drop to two meals a day from 8 mths old.

As to the difference in sizes and I'm sorry but I don't know if these dogs are from the same litter, same age or what but its in part due to genetics and even within the same litter there can be differences in heights and weights and builds. Just make sure that the vet is happy with Doogles weight as that's all that really matters. Some dogs from finer lines tend to bulk up more from the age of 2 yrs.

I changed Riley over at 6 months , I feel 12 weeks is way to young regardless of what the vet said.

Digby is Doogle's brother as I said in the thread..same litter, same age  Going to get him weighed by the vet next week to check as there is a big difference in size

I think I'd stick to 3 meals per day as well.

I'm not sure when I dropped Charlie's meals down...but he was getting less interested in his middle meal, so I stopped it then.

My pup was on 4 meals until about 4 months, then 3 meals until 6 months, and only then switched down to two. I think this is about the normal recommended. I'm surprised the vet said 2 from 12 weeks - I'd be inclined to give the pup lunch too.

My vet had said the same to me when Bracken was 12 weeks old I did drop his feed down to two as he wasn't really eating the lunch one and he was eating better when it was dropped, when he was weighed at the vets at 12 weeks he was 6.4kg he is now 16 weeks old and weighs 10.2 kg so he's gaining weight and very energetic!

Jinley became less interested in her lunchtime meal after about 8 months, but for a while had to bring her dinner time meal forward as it seemed too long a gap for her.  Even now there are days that she will pick at her biscuit treats at lunchtime to tide her over - then other days not even be interested in her dinner.

I do think that 12weeks is too early, they only have little tums and would not be able to fit in their daily allowance in my opinion.

Honey is 14 weeks and still on 4 meals a day as per vets recommendations!!!! She is quite small and I dont think she could go longer than 4 hours without a meal....

If it helps to collect a range of information, Pops is 13 weeks and our vet checked with me at a visit this week that I was giving her four feeds a day, she thought the fourth was still important with three as a minimum.

I have a six month old cocker,i am still feeding him 3 times a day,it says on the dry food beta,that you feed the dog 3 times a day,i keep mine on puppy food until he is 12 months old, i agree with the other members that your dog is too young to be fed twice a day,

Molly still gets 3 meals a day and she's almost 7 months old.
