We followed 4 meals a day when we got him (8 weeks) then down to 3 meals a day at about 15 weeks, and then down to 2 meals a day at just over 6 months. The vet, the breeder and puppy class trainer were very happy with this, and seems to be the recommended advice on here and elsewhere.

My Molly is 5.5 months old, and as I understood it she should be on 3 meals a day until she reaches 6 months, then go down to 2.  Tbh I am dreading it, she is such a greedy guts & if we haven't given her her lunch by 1pm she sits in front of the biscuit cupboard & won't move until she is fed :D

I think I may just carry on with 3 meals a day a bit longer, see if she loses interest eventually.

Chaz, a 6 month old working cocker, went over from three to two meals a day a fortnight ago.

Milly, our adult show cocker, is on 2 meals a day and it's worked out quite well as they're now both fed at the same times, although still in different rooms at the moment. :005:

Hayley - I recommend doing it gradually, so increase breakfast and dinner and decrease the size of lunch over a couple of weeks - should make the transition to 2 meals easier. I have a very food-oriented dog and he was fine with this method - I also had the same worries as you!

We gradually increased breakfast and dinner while reducing lunch and this worked fine
