Really worried about my wee boy :(
« on: February 17, 2013, 10:00:26 PM »
Otto was fine all day then about 3pm he had the runs and started to be sick. Been sick a further 3 times since which included bringing up his dinner. He has slept a lot and woke up just to bring up some bile. He is only 4 months old as is not himself at all. Very worried...is this just a puppy thing  :'(
Hail hail wee Otto!!

Any bout of sickness in a young dog is a worry, to us all, as they dehydrate really quickly - is he drinking ok?

Hope he's feeling better soon - may be worth a chat to your vet tonight if you have an out of hours service x

If he's not drinking, try ice-cubes in your hand - may help him to get some water. If that doesn't work, and he's not drinking, you might need to try some kind of syringe. Dehydration is common if the dog's been sick, I think.
I'd definitely try to call the emergency vet, or take him in first thing tomorrow.

It may just be a tummy infection, which is very common, but some of them can be very severe and worth the vet checking him over.
Hope he improves soon.
xx

Thanks for the advice. He is eating and drinking, but had the runs again this morning after breakfast which distressed him. Only gave him half of what he should have and he wolfed it down. He's being very quiet this morning and not his usual full of beans self.
Hail hail wee Otto!!

Agree, I wouldn't let diawotsits go on for more than a day, they de-hydrate so quickly

Poor baby ! And poor you !
It's great he fancies food but if he still has the squits I agree I would want to take him to the vets just so to be on the safe side :) let us know how he gets on

Oh, if you are going to the vets, might be worth trying to get a "sample" to take with you (not pleasant, but useful for the vet to identify what it is - although they might have to send it off to be analysed).

Hopefully its just a bit of a tummy upset & if that is the case you could try feeding him a little white fish/rice or boiled chicken/rice along with some plain bio yoghurt.  Do this for a couple of days to see if his tum settles down & then gradually re-introduce his normal food over the following few days.
Hope the little fella is feeling better very soon  :luv:

Sorry I'm late with this ph34r as you've probably been to the vets already by now >:(
My pup had similar vomiting and being lethargic, generally not herself :'( a week or so ago the vets thought an allergy from something she picked up from outside >:( her nose is allways to the ground :shades: :luv:
Two injections and two lots of pills, one or two food rejections but fine within a week  If the vet subscribes tablets you may have to coat them in a little butter, helps them go down :005:

I do hope Otto is feeling much better today :luv:
