I've been up since 6 leaving at 7.30 we got about 2 hrs drive. Quick question?? Do u cover the whole of the crate in vet bed? We've covered 3/4 of the bottom in vet bed with a blanket. With a bit of newspaper at the other, is this ok?

Thats going to be the longest drive!!! was up at 6too with my pup! I'd say that sounds fine to me. We didn't put paper down for either of our pups, their crate was their 'den' but normally only go in it at night or if we are out during the day, so we get them to toilet outside before they go in their crate.
Not sure if this is your 1st dog,so you might already have our own ways/thoughts/feelings etc but giz is our second pup ,so have learnt from our mistakes from having Odie, in my opinion,I would get pup in his crate as much as possible for naps etc during the day, gizmo will be 13weeks old tomorrow,so still needs regular naps. Usually I'm up at 6with both of them, giz will go bak in his crate again at 7 for a nap, then back out an hour later, then back in his crate every couple of hours. Giz gets really nippy when tired and won't leave poor Odie alone! We never did this with Odie, he only went in his crate at night or if we were going out,he used to jump on our lap and sleep!
Keep us posted, hope you enjoy your 1st day with your pup and hope 1st night goes well too (is crate is too big and pup doesn't like it,we put cardboard boxes in it to make it smaller)
Best of luck  :D
