I have found that my one knows when she is working (same as your test in the dogs eyes) and becomes a different dog, more business like. I think that as they were bred for working they need something "serious" to do otherwise boredom sets in and thats when you experience problems. I also think that they pick up on your demeanour so if you portray a business like attitude they follow.
Anyway very well done you deserve to be proud of both of you 👍
