Socialisation - update it all went wrong
« on: May 02, 2021, 08:43:01 AM »
Morning everyone

Well I took Ash for a short walk with a friend and her collie yesterday morning, they got on like a house on fire (Mia, collie, is 5 years old) we then met a 5 month old husky and a 5 month old Labrador

Ash said hello to the other dogs and they all started to play but Ash decided she was too small and hid behind my legs as the other dogs played chase with each other  :005:

Then in the afternoon we went to a pub for an early tea - where they have a secure garden. She met a 16 week working cocker and his brother (3year old cocker) the pub owners collie (who Ash was socialised with from 10weeks old)

Think she was well and truly socialised with other dogs yesterday  :005:

Today we are off into town - need to do a quick food shop and going to take her with us, we are going to pets at home to get a new collar and who knows what else we will pick up  :005:
Hubby will go in the supermarket and I am going to do some training with Ash around cars, just as we live in the country need to get her used to cars moving etc

So the above was the plan for yesterday, but it went pear shaped  :'(

The car decided to brake down half way, thankfully Hubby was with me and called the brake down. I took Ash for a walk we ended up on an under pass of the busy road and found a river walk and Ash had her first paddle as the river is so low.

Went back to the car and put her in the crate and fed her. Back out for water and a toilet and back in the crate, where she whined a couple of times and then curled up and went to sleep

Hubby and myself stood by the boot with her asleep in the crate with noisy motor bikes cars lorries going past and she was brilliant

Eventually brake down arrived - they had brought us a curtesy car (hubby works for the garage that came out to us  ;) ) the crate wouldn’t fit in the car so I had to have Ash on my lap - omg what an angel she was she curled up on my lap and went to sleep

We didn’t get to the shops and went back home, stopped off at the local and had lunch instead and she had a good play with a 10 year old lab the owners were having lunch as well. Think we have convinced them by just being there and their dogs reaction to a pup to get another pup - they were thinking about it already as lost their other dog the end of last year

So I suppose Ash was socialised to other things yesterday but not exactly what I had planned  :005:

00ps! not what you expected, but thankfully looks like it worked out reasonably well in the unfortunate circumstances  :shades:
