hi again i am alraedy addicted to you lot....... god help me i'll never be away from this computer.....
we have been looking for a puppy for some time.... we wanted to get the wedding out of the way first and get settled..... i just happened to come across a ad for him a couple of days ago, and that was it, my husband went and picked him up...
it says on his paper he is a blue roan, but im sure he is black and white(i am having a problem with the photos,,,will take some more tomo and post them)
i have been brought up with cockers, so it was an obvious choice really....
i must admit he is the most playful, but im sure he will grow out of it, Hopefully....
the couple who had him before left the house at 6 and didnt come home till 5, so he's always been alone in the day, so i suppose me being a stay at home mum with a little girl is all to exciting for him.....
i have a 6 year old to who is disabled and has brain damage and i want him to learn to not jump up on her because she cannot move away from him... and she is blind so i dont want him scaring her....... so we are being very careful at the moment and keeping a eagle eye on him..... i'm sure he'll soon learn.... he seems very bright....

Hi. We have 6 month old Willow, our first cocker. She's been brilliant for our family.

The kids and I are home all day too (we home educate) so she is thoroughly spoilt. We have to deliberately go out and leave her just so she can learn to be alone.

Have fun!

Welcome to COL :D

I have a blue roan girl by the name of Daisy.  She came from a rescue centre but the belief is that she had a very similar start to your barney.  Daisy was also approx 6 months old when we got her.

Both me and my OH work from home so she went from one extreme to the other other and it did send her a bit hyper to begin with.  She has been with us 14 months now and she still follows me everywhere unless I shut the door behind me - I havent been to the loo unaided since she walked through the door last October

As Gini says its probably a good idea to engineer going out so that Barney doesnt get over dependant.  Also as far as your six year old is concerned, I think it should be relatively easy to train barney not to jump up.  Have a look at clicker training - it works wonders with Daisy and is a very positive way to train.

As the others have said you will probably become addicted to this site, but it is very friendly and helpful. :D

:P HI, you certainly have your hands full! I have a rescue cocker (2 yrs) who is down as a Blue Roan but is mainly Black and White too. He is a lovely little thing, who is improving daily. He was very stressed when he first came after being in kennels so I gave him Rescue Remedy from Boots etc. It seems to work. I also give it to my hyper springer spaniel too.
