Hello! I'm new here.......
« on: June 09, 2006, 02:13:10 PM »
 :D
Hi,

I'm collecting my very first working cocker puppy up tonight and so excited!!!! She's a beautiful black cocker with a white spot on her chest and we've named her Brie. She's 8 weeks old today.
We currently have 2 house cats which i'm worried about introducing to Brie as they've never been in contact with a dog before, but I guess with some gentle introductions I'm hoping they'll all get along eventually..............even if it takes the next 6 months  ph34r

Brie will be coming into work with me everyday as we have recently started our own business, hence why we've never had a dog before so she wont be left alone with the cats at all. Brie hasnt had any injections yet so will be taking her for her first sometime next week.
The lady I work with is also having a 5 month old puppy next week (a bulldog) which has been fully vacinated so I'm presuming they will be ok to be here together??

Anyway - great forum! I've been reading all week.
Wish me luck, I forsee a fair few sleepless night ahead of me  :luv:

Hi, welcome to COL,

I haven't long been registered, but find this site very useful.

Brie is a lovely name, I bet you are sooo excited, we were - we collected our new member of our family on Wednesday, and shes lovely, her name is Sasha, we do both look a little dark under the eyes from not much sleep, but she has been very good so far, we're just not used to not having a lie in anymore...

We've only had a couple of puddles indoors - famous last words!!!

Look forward to seeing lots of piccies...

Hi and welcome,

We brought our eight-week-old Beau  :luv: home yesterday morning so we're probably experiencing similar things - how did your first night with Brie go?

We also have cats - three of them - and at the moment they're disgusted with us for bringing Beau home  ph34r (and they came from homes that had dogs!) How are yours coping?

Hi and welcome to COL  :D

I have a 5 and a half month old blue roan working cocker called Alfie who is the doggy love of my life  :luv:

Brie looks lovely in your avatar pic, I'm sure your cats will be ok once they've had a chance to get used to having her around, there are lots of threads on here about cockers and cats so if you do a search you might find some handy hints!

Thanks for all your replies  :D

Brie is settling in well and the cats dont seem phased by her to much which is great. Were having to keep her away from my work collegues bulldog though as she's so tiny compared to him (he weighs 4 stone) but as soon as she's gained some weight and can play outside with him, i'm sure they'll get along just fine.

She had her first injection on Tuesday so on the count down now until walkies which she's gonna love as we live near a huge park.

So far so good  :luv:
Not sure how to post photos??

hello Im jean and Im new too.
seems a great site everyone is very friendly, just like the cockers!
I have three spangels and my sister has two deerounds and an ancient terrier . they all play together we go for regular walks together. Guess whos the boss dog?
yes the smallest of the lot, the terrier. she has an ego the size of an elephant, and the rest have learnt from puppies not to bug her or else.!!
dogs usually sort out pack order with little or no intervention apart from common sense from humans. If they are well socialised as pups they will grow up to be grand friendly dogs.
and if they see cats from a young age they learn healthy respect for them too, and wont chase or bug them as adults.
my mother has a cat and all the dogs walk around her when she is about, shes in charge of who gets to lie in front of mams fire!! :005:
