On the same topic...what about a cocker that's almost 2 years old jumping off 3 steps about 2 times a day?  Bailey always takes a flying leap from our back porch to the ground and skips the 3 steps b/c he's so excited to find squirrels.  I can stop him if I put a lead on him (and then he'll just pull my arm off), but do you think it is necessary at his age?
