Good luck, you're gonna need eyes in the back of your head  :005: but you are correct in saying it gets the training over with in one go....bet they become partners in crime though.

I don't think I could have managed two puppies, you are very brave.  ;)

Can't wait to see the piccies, what colour are they?

Have you had dogs/puppies before?  Only reason I ask is that we have just told our breeder that we're only having one pup after listening to people's advice on here! (can't do the link  but look at the double trouble thread about 10 days ago).  Never having had a dog before and having two children too (7 and 3 and 38 if you count my husband ) I didn't want to take the chance of it all going pearshaped when they were adolescents.  If we didn't have the kids then I would have thought differently.  We now get Harry on the 10th Nov and can't wait  :D
I wish you all the best with your gorgeous pups  :luv: and look forward to hearing about them
Harry the Sprocker - crossbreed I know, but still gorgeous !

wow.....what a brilliant response!!!  thank you to everyone who has replied!  i can see i'll be using this website alot!!
I have had a puppy before, a golden retriever called Monty.  He is a family pet, mum wouldn't let me take him with me when i moved out!!

We don't have any children yet, thought we would see how we handle the responsibility of puppies before we think of children!!
I'm prepared for hard work and sleepless nights but i think it will be so worth the time and effort.  My partner and i have taken the first month off work between us to tackle the house breaking and getting them used to being left alone for short periods of time. i know they will be double the trouble but i'm hoping i get double the rewards too!!  they will be so well loved....the whole family is soooo excited to meet them...suppose its a bit like having real babies in the family!!

Dexter is black and white and Dillon is lemon and white.....i don't have very good pictures of them at the moment but as soon as they are home i'll post some on here!

Thanks again for all the advice

Raising two puppies together can be done but it's .......... not something that too many reputable breeders would recommend.

This is why I worry so much when people post about getting two pups - I would not be comfortable choosing a pup from a breeder who was prepared to home two together :-\ All the COL posts I have read highlight the fact that reputable breeders want their pups to have the best possible chance of success in their new homes - and being raised in a home with another puppy makes that so much more difficult for the puppies and the new owners :(

Edited to add:
(I know that reputable breeders will allow two pups to go together in exceptional circumstances; such as when they know the new home well ;))

Good luck, you'll need it ;)

I've got Fern working cocker just over 8 months old and a black lab nearly 8 years old.

Fern is my actual first puppy all my other dogs have been at least 12 months old before, can I make a suggestion that you look for dog training socialisation classes now, instead of leaving finding out when the pups are with you ;)  (Personally I think you are mad getting 2 at once, but that's my opinion ;))

Do you and OH work full time? Have you got someone to help out if you do,?  Just a few thoughts / questions that went through my head when you said you were getting two pups.

Welcome to COL - this site is valuable and loaded with great friendly people, hope all goes well ...........and the most important thing of all is ...............Pictures please ;)

I have had a puppy before, a golden retriever called Monty.  He is a family pet, mum wouldn't let me take him with me when i moved out!!

 I have a golden retriever, called Max. He's 17 months old now.  Max was a walk in the park compared to Barney, our 7 month old cocker! Max was such an easy puppy and such a laid back big softie who's only fault is, and has ever been, he likes to go say hello to everyone within his sight.  :005:

Barney is our third dog, we also have a Lab, Sapphi, who was a nightmare puppy, a challenging adolescent and is an adoreable adult.  Barney threw up things, and is still doing so, that we'd never had to deal with before. He can be a challenge too, in a different way to Sapphi.

Just don't want you to be lulled into a false sense of security, if your Monty was anything like my Max.  ;)

i can see i'll be using this website alot!!

Of course you will!  :005: Did you not know that addiction is not optional!!

Can't wait to see some pics of your boys.  :D

Sam is mum to - Sapphi (working black Lab 5 1/2 yrs), Max (Golden Retriever 4 yrs) Morgan (American Cocker 2 1/2yrs) and mum in spirit to Barney (English Cocker 3 1/2 yrs now living in Scotland)

All I can say is Good Luck !

Dont mean to speak out of turn here but you seem to have taken on two pups on a bit of a whim - I honestly dont mean to offend, thats just how I read your post.

Buy a pair of wellies, a woolly hat, a thick fleece & plenty of kitchen roll  :005:

You will find this website a Godsend, there is a mountain of info on here, you will find that at least one of us has had experience of virtually anything cocker like !

Looking forward to seeing the piccies.

your right it can be hard work if your not prepared for that its not a good idea  . but like miche said it is very rewarding I love mine to death  :luv:
you will need to spend seperate time with each on his own, walk seperate, train seperate , I started out feeding mine apart from each other ,let them both have there own beds . and playtime with me . its a bit of a full time job  :005: but it can be done   goodluck

I was going to say that everything I have done with one dog, I have done with the other and then done it again seperately, it's been hard work but I have enjoyed watching my pups grow up into the fantastic dogs they are.  Life is just getting easier, we still have things to overcome as they keep throwing challenges at me.   ::)

I bet you can't wait to get them home :D

I had two Newf pups together, brother and sister, and it was great. They kept each other company when I was busy, and having someone else to play with meant they left our old girl alone.

I also have Ronald an old mongrel and as I had the 2 pups together he was able to live in peace as they didn't bother him.
Love Michele, Mikey and Herbiexx

The colour lemon and white suggests they are working type cockers, they are quite different from the more commonly seen show type.

Hi dillon and dexters mum,

I think its wonderful .... two puppies. I think it might be double the trouble but soooo rewarding. I think if your prepared which you sound like you are and im sure you have taken into account the amount of time you and your partner are going to have to spend with them it will be great . Most people on this website are on it due to them having a love of cockers therefore you would not be a member on here if you did not have the best intentions for your puppies and wanting to give them all the love , training and affection they need. Good luck and im sure you will be a happy family .

Congratulations on your new additions. I would guess how hard is is going to be will depend on the natures of your two lovely bundles. I think if we'd had our two together we'd have been ok but it's not for some!
