Help new puppy is she male or female!!

First night tonight with our beautiful puppy Bon Bon! We are experienced dog owners but have never had a bitch before.
She has a tiny penis like protrusion right at her back end near her botty is this normal for an 8 week old bitch?
Sorry to sound so daft but we have just got her home and did not know that female doggy's have a bit that sticks out!!!

Help she must be a girl as we already have a boy Border Collie and must have 2 of the opposite sex.

Barney and Bon Bon are loving each other already!

Hello Jane

No this does not sound usual for a bitch. It is possible your pup is a hermaphrodite which your vet will be able to confirm when you take her in for her first vaccination or you can take her in before that if you are worried. If she does have this condition, your breeder should really have spotted it beforehand & told you about it. From a health point of view, hermaphroditism is not a serious condition (although surgery may be needed) but it would obviously rule a bitch out for showing and/or breeding. I might be barking up the wrong tree of course & your pup could be perfectly normal -I'd be interested to hear what your vet says though!

Have taken her to the vet today and she is defintily all "she" thank goodness!!!
Protrusion is quite normal and so is she.
