I've done something really awful !!!- will it be ok ?

Hi All

I've just done something really awful!

I was trimming my lovely girl when my hand slipped and I have cut a nasty gash in one of her pads! - I feel so terrible and am still shaking. Have bathed it with some hibiscrub and covered it with a melolin pad and put cohesive bandage around it.

Do you think it will be ok or will it have to be stitched ?  The bleeding has stopped and I was thinking of going to the vets tomorrow and see if she will need some antibiotics.

I am feeling so awful and a horrible mummy !!  :cry:

Any help would be appreciated

Hi Suzi,

This is something I always dread happening when I'm doing Dallas :?  But don't worry - she will be fine.  Just keep it clean, either with hibiscrub or warm salt water and make sure its covered when she goes outside so nothing can get into it. If it starts bleeding again and happens a lot, I would take her to the vet and they will probably use tissue glue to close it over. Just make sure you spoil her for the rest of the day and I'm sure she will forgive you :wink:

Thanks very much for that - I'm still feeling really shaky and awful !

She has been fine and did'nt even make a fuss when I did it - she has had even more cuddles than usual and some treats.

Think I will get the vet to check it tommorrow,

I would feel exactly the same as you!! But don't punish yourself what you did was for her well being and because she is so loved.

Hi

Just wanted to let you know that we went to the vets and she said that it isnt as bad as it looks.  Cut not deep into pad - thank goodness!  Have to keep it clean and she has a course of antibiotics.  She is a bit quiet tonight and has'nt eaten, maybe shot of antibiotic has affected her? -  hopefully she will soon be on the mend.
