A new loving cocker spaniel member!!!! we love em!!!
« on: February 16, 2008, 06:28:15 PM »
Hi there to all cocker lovers... my name is Heather and I have a 1yr old blue roan girlie called Poppy, and I love her loads and loads she is my best friend and companion... My hubbie daz loves her too, and so does my 12 yr old daughter, Paige..!!!!! We have had a boy blue roan called Barney,  and a working cocker called Toto, but we had to give them both away for personal reasons, it was very sad as we loved them so much...
Poppy who has recently turned 1yr old has suddenly become very picky with her food, and eats it in stages, if i gave her a plateful of juicy tinned meat she would wolf it down :005: I really don't want to change her food as I know this is the worse thing to do as if she is hungry she will eat it! But I love her and I feel that i should give her what she likes..... :D Is there anyone out there that has the same problem and what do you think I should do, am I doing right with her????
Hope to hear from someone or anyone who dotes on their doggy....
Luv Heather and Pops xxxxx

hello, i have sam a blue roan and tan, he's 11 months old.

what is she fed on? i'd be inclined to chose on food and stick to it, once she learns she won't be having any7thing else she's eat it. :shades:

Hi and welcome

I agree with finding a food you are happy with on the basis of nutrition, no additives and company ethics, then leave it down for 15 minutes. What isn't eaten in that time is removed and nothing more fed until the next mealtime.

They don't starve and usually decide to just get on and eat it all up.

Hi welcome,
I'm no food expert but I think when it comes to our little scamp showing her other options were available was a mistake. OK so lots of people say don't 'humanise' them but i'm sure if I give her kibble she looks at it and turns her nose up as if to say, 'But where's my raw meat?'

Unless it's making her ill i'm sure she'll eat it if she's hungry  ;)

  • To understand a cocker, you need to be a cocker!

Hi and welcome,

I have two cockers, and Maddi is a right licke piglet, eat anything - Murphy is a bit fussy at times, he always gives in though, I believe that he will not starve himself, and just hopes I will cave in a give him something else.
