off to see a possible friend for my Barney today
« on: July 15, 2008, 10:25:11 AM »
Have found a lovely breeder in the next village, she has just had her final ever litter as she is giving up breeding, she has only ever had one litter a year, and has a boy choc and tan left, mum lives in her home with her, and she sounds lovely

Part of me is very very excited the other is asking myself all the usual questions, sleepless nights, what will Barney think, how will the cats react, all the usual stuff really, cost, must be mad..........  blah blah

But in my mind I am already trying to think of names!  ....  any suggestions?

Am I mental?  Barney is nearly 11 months and a dream

Heh heh I'd do it, but then again I rehomed a 2.5 yr old Weim with issues when Dave was only 4 months old... it's been a hard year but not that hard  ;)

Barney may still have a bit of rebelling to do and introducing another dog may make him more excitable - so have a think about if you really want that or not but if he's a calm easy to manage lad... (like Dave) he's likely to still be mostly like that after a few months of craziness with his new toy! I have a bitch and a dog though with a bigger age gap so they are far enough apart in age/sex and character for no serious tussles - that might be something you need to consider with two boys close-ish in age. Two dogs are harder than one and your relationship with Barney will change a bit but I love the dynamic of having two and they have a lot of fun together and are great company for each other too  :luv:

I'm sure you have checked, but in all your excitement, make sure the pup's parents have had all their health checks etc..

Good luck with your decision and pictures are obviously a MUST!!!!

No no don't do it. Give me the details of the litter and I will save you from yourself by purchasing said puppy.

thanks for your advice, greatly appreciated, I am very nervous about it all, and at the moment with one dog, 3 cats ansd 2 fish and  4 year old the house is quite calm, I know bringing a new puppy in will completely destroy all that  :005:

I am worried a little about how close they are in age, but Barney is sooo laid back and every time we have had dogs in the house he is just so sweet with them and has no issues with them having his toys, his bed, even his food, honestly he is so laid back it is un true

I have seen a photo of the little (or should I say chunky) boy and he is adorable and I know my heart will melt when I see him but I think I need a reality check and not let my heart rule my head (she says....honestly...I can be strong)

There is nothing wrong with a challenge  :005: I'm actually trying to get rid of my fish as no one will have the 5 yr old or the dogs  :lol2:

Aw good luck.... think your mind is made up isn't it? If you're honest.... :005:

Doesn't he have a cross little expression on his face, i love how the tan eyebrows do this....

Enjoy the mad house that I'm sure this little bundle will be creating soon...
