Not really in a position to give any advice/comments re the child/dog relationship, but in terms of jumping up at tables, etc. I have found that Chloe has always responded to a basic NO command followed by "good girl" when she stops. Maybe I've just been lucky
I have the same problem with her jumping up visitors though and this seems much more difficult to stop, as none of my visitors (except one) seem to mind. Chloe NEVER jumps up me, without invitation, but pushes her luck with everyone else. I am now finding however, that if I tell her NO when she starts to jump up folk, she will normally respond to my command, but it would be so much easier if my guests would just ignore her until she was settled.
