Lucy, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss - you must be devastated :( If I was your breeder, I would be really upset naturally but I would not even think of rehoming the puppy she still has while there is a risk she may be carrying/incubating this virus. I would think most reputable breeders would also offer you a full refund without even having to ask. Of course, your breeder may not be experienced or know what is expected of them - if you want to contact me privately, I may be able to advise you what to do next. Of course, money is the last thing on your mind at the moment but you shouldn't be financially out of pocket as well as emotionally devastated by the loss of Toby. Was he insured by the way? Most good breeders (and even some of the commercial breeders) provide 6 weeks insurance cover as soon as a pup leaves them which would cover a situation like this.

Dear Lucy

Having had a busy weekend, I am only just catching up with news from the Forum and have been so upset reading the threads and hearing your bad news.  I am so sorry.  I know that my words can't make you feel any better at this time but we are all thinking of you.

I do feel the advice given to speak to your breeder about a full refund is the right way forward and hope you may feel able to tackle this in the next few days.

I do hope that one day, you will be able to welcome a new puppy back into your home and enjoy a full life that poor little Toby wasn't able to have.

Much love to you and your family xxx

I agree, or . . . . . . .
Maybe if your breeder has puppies fairly regularly, you could maybe have another puppy from a different litter, in the future when you feel ready.

I was thinking that too.

I think you are right in your choice Lucy, it may be too soon at the moment. But I'm sure in time you will think of another puppy.

I hope Toby was insured...if not, I would seriously consider speaking to the breeder. No one would think money was the most important issue at a time like this..you just want Toby back. But I agree with Jane that you shouldn't be expected to be out of pocket as well as heartbroken  :(

I am so very sad to hear the news about little Toby.
I'm sure you are feeling devastated at the moment, but it will gradually get better.

Run free from pain, little Toby.
God Bless

Thinking of you.

If he was KC registered and you transfered the registratin into your name he should be fully insured. I'm sure the breeder will help as much as they can - they must be just as devistated as you are! I know i would be!

Love and hugs
