Germolene
« on: March 11, 2010, 10:38:21 AM »
Morning!

I wondered, whilst I was squirting a load of germolene on my previously splinter engorged finger - is Germolene safe to use on dogs? Not that I have a reason to use it right now - but if ever the occasion arose....?

I swear by the stuff for me - it's like magic cream!

Thoughts?

I have used things like germoline antiseptic cream on small cuts and abrasions for dogs in the past. There were no ill effects on my dogs and I wouldn't use them somewhere they were likely to be licked off so I can only vouch for mine. There were fine and the wound healed.

I used it too when Ollie cut his pad - luckily he didn't lick it but I didn't apply loads incase he did as I'm not sure if eating it is recommended  :005:!! Althought I'm sure Ollie has ate worse!!! I suppose if it was in a area where it could be licked i.e. pad a sock could be applied to cover it!!!

My last cocker, Sophie, used to have a dry nose now and again.  I used to put a thin film of germoline on it and it really worked.  I am sure she used to lick some of it off but it didn't seem to do her any harm.

I use it on my lips when they are dry, it works really well.

OOH germoline  :luv:

I have not had a sniff of that for years, my local shop used to sell germoline flavoured chewing gum  :004:

Sorry don't know if it's safe to use for dogs.
