Hi Everyone

As you know we got rusty castrated last Wednesday, maybe I am very naive but I thought that meant removal of testicles, but he still seems to have them????

When we come down in the morning there they are large as life and when he gets excited it still looks as if they are still there!!!!
Could someone please put us right to whats happening!!!
As I am going to phone the vets tomorrow to see exactly what I payed for....
as it certainly was not cheap...

 Hmmm not sure i'm right here, but I thought neautering a male just involved cutting a tube inside the testes?  Maybe I am thinking of vasectomies    Hope someone can ive you a more sensible answer

Are you sure it's not post-operative swelling Rusty? I can remember a dog we had done years ago was quite swollen "down below" for a few days at least afterwards ;) We didn't know about Arnica then!

Jane

PS Castration does indeed involve removal of the testes ;)

As Jane has said, it does mean removal of the testes, but they do leave the scrotal sac so it could that, that is still swollen.
Arnica is wonderful stuff, Rusty may be glad of some  :)

Hi thankyou all for your replies :D

I'm still not sure, as they are not in the scrotum area, but right underneath his tinkle, if we have been out for a while and we come home he's all excited and thats when you can see them 2 seperate balls at each side of his tinkle, sorry for putting this a bit coarse but theres no other way to explain it, I shall phone the vet this afternoon doesn't open till 4 and see what they say, as I'm quite concerned.

Thanks for your advice

No need to phone the vet, I think you'll find that these, as discussed on another thread, are not his testicles.
they are used during mating, when the dog & bitch tie, as a kind of anchor  ;)
