Woody at the Vets
« on: September 30, 2010, 10:34:19 AM »
So this morning was D Day and off we went to get Woods his "big boy" operation.....

Arrived in waiting room and obviously they were doing a job lot of that kind of operation as 2 other dogs waiting with owners.  One, a colly, was making the most horrendous noise, barking, howling, growling and spinning around trying to get away from his owners.  So I said to Woody we'll go and sit over here (opposite side of area) and I sat down and Woody, well he decided the best place to sit was on Mum's lap so he did and proceeded to thoroughly lick my ears, neck etc much to the amusement of the vet who'd just come out to get us!  He is sooo sweet.

Just got the call that he has had operation, come around from anaesthetic and is doing fine - I should be able to pick him up after 2.30pm this afternoon - my poor baby.

Awww. What a cute little ex-boy. That is quite visible calming behaviour. I think animals know when things aren't going to go their way at the vet. Except Posie who greets the vet with much excitement and always leaves with her head hung low.

ph34r Today is day 6 after the operation and so far we have been back to the vets 4 times!  Once as an emergency on Friday morning as he had removed a stitch (despite 20 cm Buster cone collar!) and had to have the wound glued and restitched.....  Then on Saturday he discovered how to wriggle around and get to the stitches and his very sore ex-testicles and moved up to a 30cm cone!!!  Sunday he was rubbing the edge of the cone over his ex-testicles and grazing them horribly so we went for the babygrow option (which was quite an experience, never thought I'd ever have to put a dog into a babygrow :005:)  But oh did he look sooo cute in his little white suit  :luv: :luv:

Yesterday visited vets again regarding ball issue and now have Fuciderm cream to apply to said area (with much hilarity from the rest of the family) which does seem to be taking the redness down.  Can't wait for next Monday when the stitches can come out and he can, hopefully, reappear from under the huge cone collar.

What a boy!

Ok he's back!  Finally got stitches out today - such a long 10 days :005:

Vet said to get his fitness back up gradually....  not sure he understands that though - totally crazy and so many kisses (not been able to do that because of the cone head collar thing).

Thanks everyone for your advice and kind wishes.
