Purchase price for your dog question for policies

I know this is sorted out now but i'd agree with Roger. They will take any excuse not to pay out on a policy so if they identify anything that looks dodgy it could stop your claim meaning that yes, you pay less but you're paying for nothing.
Having said that, I don't think they could prove it if it was a private purchase so they would probably pay eventually but it'd hold up any claim.
