3 or 4 meals a day?
« on: October 03, 2012, 02:20:54 PM »
Cooper is now 12 weeks old and I'm still feeding him 4 meals a day.  Well, I pretty much put kibble from his allowance in his bowl whenever I see it empty.  I can't get the hang of seeing an empty bowl as my cat always has biscuits so I know he never goes hungry.

I do realise that it's different with dogs though who are permanently hungry so I need to stick to the regime - should it be 3 or 4 meals a day though?

Thanks

We cut Willow down to 3meals at 12 weeks. She would eat her food straight away, she was and still is a little piggy. Advice on here would be if they dont eat it within 20 mins to to take it up. However Willows is never down for more that 5 seconds and its gone  :005: :005:

I agree completely - if you leave food down permanently, you'll have a 'grazer' and never be sure how much they are eating and when!  However, I'd only leave the food down for about 10 minutes (Ozzy's is always gone in 5 seconds too!)  You could probably start reducing one of the 4 feeds now, and then go to 3 meals a day at about 14 weeks.
