pepper has started this today for her incontinence. I forgot to ask the vet .. roughly how long before i notice any changes?
she is on the max dose for her size and I'm to decrease it as I find it working til shes on min amount to control condition..
the vet also says if this doesn't work they can give her oestrogen replacement instead.

Hi

Sasha has been on this for 7 years now and it works well for her.  Personally we saw the improvement within days.  Are you doing the three times daily dosing to start with or twice daily?  I've got to say that unfortunately this drug didn't work in laney's case.  She was then started on Incurin, the oestrogen replacement which also wasn't two great.  These two drugs can be used together in extreme cases but Laney is now on stilbostroel 1 every 5 days, not the most ideal of treatment as the side effects can be bad but it works and she's fine :luv:  Fingers crossed that this treatment works well for Pepper :luv:

Ideally its better to put it on food, i think it can make them feel a little naucous.  Vets tend to start them on 3 times daily then as long as its working well reduce it to the twice daily dose.  Sasha is on 0.7 mls twice daily.  She is oddly very sensitive to her doses, any less and she leaks and to much had she gets the vomiting side effect but apparently thats very uncommon.

One word of advice tho, clean the syringe after every dose.  Propalin is very sticky and it blocks really easily >:(

thanks pepper is on 0.3ml three times daily. the vet told me it wasnt so effective on a full stomach,  but I could  put it in her food if I had to,  if she wont let me just give it to her, which was why I just popped it in her mouth ..she did seem to go yeuk tho so maybe it tasts bitter.

thats weird all our 7 vets advise that its put on food :-\ oh well its worked fantastic on Sasha that way ;)  I was told by Laney's specialist that it is quite bitter also that thereason that they say about mood swings as part of the side effects is because the human equivalant can induce headaches.  Sasha does turn into queen b***h when we start a new bottle for a few days.  I wonder if its because the end of the old bottle is weaker as she might also have the odd leak at this time and a new bottle is like very mildly overdosing her  giving her a head ache ph34r  Who knows?   ::)
