« on: July 08, 2008, 11:17:07 AM »
We went for a walk this morning all was well until he flew through a corn field, he came out crying and shaking his head..he wanted to be carried and seemed quite scared :( i have looked in the ear and cant see anything..but concerns me more as i am worried that there is something deeper in his ear..we have an appointment at the vets at 4.30 this afternoon..not sure what too expect..fingers crossed x

Hope he is OK  :-\  If the vet thinks it is a seed (which it sounds like it is), then they may decide to sedate/anaesthetise Yogi in order to have a good look and make sure that all the seed is out. This means he will have to be admitted for a couple of hours; I would suggest you don't feed him before you go, just in case.  Yogi may be a bit wobbly and dozy when he comes home; and might need some company overnight tonight to keep him calm  ;)

Molo had a seed in his ear that went right down to the eardrum and perforated it, so he had a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories afterwards too, to assist his recovery.

Good luck - I hope Yogi recovers uneventfully  :D

That sounds like typical behaviour for a grass/barley seed down the lug'ole to me too :shades:.

It's not the sort of thing to leave in the hope that it will go away -as the more they shake, the further down it is likely to go. Fern's last one was actually lying on her ear drum  :o  and I took her in to the vets within an hour of her doing it. She was very lucky. GA for her (cos she is a wimp and sedation wouldn't have been enough for such a delicate op) but she was fine -until she did exactly the same thing in the other ear two weeks later  ::)  >:(.

I hope vet has managed to remove said nasty by now and Yogi is feeling more comfortable  :luv:.

Which reminds me it's snood time......
