They're probably sore or being aggravated by something. If I was you I would pop him along to the vets - could be a multitude of reasons & treatment would depend on the diagnosis  ;)
Bathing his eyes with cold tea may be soothing for the time being but should definitely be looked at.
Conditions that can cause sore, red eyes vary from  conjunctivitis, ulcers or dry eye & allergy related, to name a few & all require treatment .
Some dogs do seem to have redder eyes than others but I would get it checked out to be on the safe side, if i were you  ;)
Let us know how you get on.

I agree best thing is to see the vet as different things can cause red eyes, which also require different types of treatment

Best to get them checked out, but Henry and Katie's go red if they're tired or bouncing around a lot  :shades:  Dylie always has 'droopy' eyes, but more so if tired too. But do get them checked like lindseyp says  ;)

My Skye's eyes go red when she is tired.  As soon as she has a sleep they are back to normal  :005:

I can't quite make out the colour of Kinnie - but our vet told us that brown dogs are much more likely to suffer from grass & pollen allergies than any other colour of dog!

Both Branston & Sparky have this problem - whereas Pickle who's a red-head doesn't seem affected at all.

Taz gets red eyes when he is really tired.

Bathing with Cold tea (without milk  :005:) is really good for sore eyes (even human).  At the first sign of runny/bed eyes i bathe mine dogs eyes and it prevents infection developing if you catch it early enough.

My previous cocker used to get red eyes when he would lie down trying to see underneath a door and thus getting a draft and dirt into them. We used to get some cream from the vet as they did bother him. I would take him along to your vet as eyes are very sensitive and easily damaged. Hope he feels better soon.

Alfie also gets red eyes when he is tired, bless :luv:

Meg has one red eye which she has had from birth, its causes her absoloutely no problems at all. We get lots of comments asking what's wrong with it etc etc but we dont even notice it any more! xxx
