What should I be looking for in a good kennels?

Pammy:
You also have to go with your gut feeling. Once you are happy with the physical aspects eg the place is warm, clean and dry - you have to be happy that yuor dog will be happy there coz if not you won't enjoy your break and will fret.

See how they respond to your dog and ensure you can have a trial session first. Make sure they know any quirks that Holly may have - including the barking and see how they would deal with them - don't forget grooming. I have had kennels say to me - "oh - so you'd want them brushed every day - we can't possibly do that - wouldn't be fair to our other dogs who don't get it, we just wouldn't have the time"!!!!

Sheryl - if you let us know where you are then someone may be able to recommend a kennel for you to start with :)

I know of a really good one in Mattersey near Bawtry.

I am in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.  I decided that the one that said it wasn't a good day to visit was a complete non starter.  I am not even going to bother going there.  Phoned a guy today who promises superior kennels.  Seemed very helpful and although there are set times to visit.. 9am - 12pm and 4pm - 7pm, he had no hesitation in letting me visit today and did say that if those times were not convenient then to let him know when I could manage so there was going to be someone free to give me the full tour.  He sounded quite kindly (if that is possible?) so I am going there at 4pm.  I think that even if the Queen was to board her with the corgis I still would fret ;D  I keep having to remind myself, why is it I have dogs?????
