I've got a Barkley (black male cocker) who's ball obsessed, & barks at you to throw the ball, & when he's fed-up of chasing it, will carry it around in his mouth.
Daisy, (female sprocker) enjoys chasing a ball, but isn't as focused about it, & has a tendency to drop it on the way back, or leave it somewhere while she has a sniff, then forgets to bring it back.
Roly (cocker) won't entertain picking up a ball - he'll show you where the ball is, but refuses to pick it up, although he'll collect various toys from the garden & bring them in the house. He also used to like his soft toys - he'd put it on the chair, & arrange it how he wanted it, then go across the room, sit on another chair/sofa, look at it a bit, woof at it, then go & collect it ... he'd have made a lovely mummy
unfortunately, since Daisy the one-dog-demolition-squad took up residence, all soft toys have been removed for their own safety - plus it was upsetting Roly to see his beloved babies' stuffing strewn all over the house!
Roly's 6 & Barkley's 5, & show-type cockers ... both have been debaubled, & crazy Daisy is 3, & working-type stock.
Barkley & Daisy don't really play with other dogs, but Roly will socialise with them in the park, although not exactly play.
Daisy & Barkley will play with each other at home, & Dais likes a good wrestle in the house, with one of my daughter's staffies when they come to visit ... infact the staffy finds Daisy a bit too rough!
