Unfortunalty, if the dog had seriously bitten, it would be pts anyway  :(

Perhaps the rescue centre should have sent him to a quieter household

I hope it all turns out ok for him, he was a stunning dog  :)

My neighbour was badly bitten on her leg by an alsation dog in the street. She reported it to the police and the owners were given a warning, the second attack will result in him being PTS even if the Alsations owners disagree.

If the dog can be proved to have been "dangerously out of control in a public place" then the DDA applies and a destruction order can be issued by a court. Otherwise, the law is still quite vague about biting dogs; if you are bitten by a dog in its own home/garden for instance, then you can file a civil action (which often include a request for the dog to be PTS), but the law doesn't really cover these types of cases  <_<

A lot of rescue organisations will PTS a dog that has bitten to avoid the risk civil legal action against them if the dog is rehomed and bites again  :(  There are also rescue centres which will never PTS a dog, no matter how severe their behavioural problems. IMO, there needs to be a happy medium that takes individual circumstances into account

I know this is going off thread, but I actually felt very sorry for her. Her confidence was completely crushed but then who wouldn't be if your husband walked out two weeks after having a baby. As her Mum said she never planned to be a single Mum.

On a lighter note OH was flitting in & out whilst both these programmes were on and I've told him next time we go up to Ikea I'm going to buy him a 'naughty circle' rug to sit on the next time he goes off on one.
He laughed at first but then when I told him he'd have to sit on it for 52 minutes he wasn't too impressed

I work within Law Enforcement myself.

Every dog which has attacked, that I know of, has been PTS.

I agree that individual circumstances need to be taken into account :)
