Not just the festive season coming...
« on: November 11, 2006, 07:21:56 AM »
Hi

Our rescue cocker is hopefully jumping aboard the good ship danno tomorrow afternoon, and the lady we're taking her from kindly warned us that she's about to come into season next month (the dog, not the owner)

Anyway, reading a few websites...there seems to be differing opinion.

With one hormonal woman in the house already, I'm pretty used to hairy grumpy things under my feet - but is there anything major that I should worry about?

I know to...
*Keep her on a lead (which I'd do anyway seeing as she's new to me)
*Make the garden secure (which it is)
*Leave her to her own devices when she looks like she's had enough

...But some websites are warning about large amounts of discharge.

Can anyone talk me through their experiences.  In case it makes any difference, she's 5 and has had one litter (4 boys 4 girls)

Any help gratefully recieved.

The discharge does vary from bitch to bitch although its probably a lot less than what you are imagining ;)  She will keep herself very clean and will probably be a bit quiet on the build up and during her season, my girl does go a bit miserable, but then I guess that natural for all females ;)

Good luck with your new girl, photos are a must ;)
