Title: Resizing Photobucket Photos
Post by: Nicola on March 06, 2008, 11:59:53 PM
I put some photos on PB tonight and they've changed the editing function so it's taking ages to resize them and half the time they're not saving properly and are still huge, it's driving me nuts  >:(  I remember a while back someone (think it might have been Rachel??) posted how to resize photos from the links you post on here but I can't find it and can't remember how to do it. Does anyone know how to do this or another easier way of resizing photos other than doing it on the camera as it's too late for these ones!

Found this ..

Resize your photos by manually altering the forum code in your post. Instead of
Code:

[img http://url of your photo /img]

you can alter the code to read
Code:

[img http://width=640]url of your photo /img]

This has the effect of automatically reducing photos to the right size for COL.

have left out inside brackets at it wouldn't should codes  ::)

Think you type 'width=640' in the first set of brackets after the word image.  :-\

Thanks guys but that doesn't work for me, it just brings up a box with a red cross in it. Where exactly do the brackets need to go, I think that may be what I'm doing wrong.

As an example, this is the normal code so it's too big...

but this is what I get if I put width=640] in as per the instructions in Donna's post...

The code starts [IMG]http:// so is it straight after that you put the 'width=640'? And is it in two square brackets as well as in ...//[width=640] or is it just ...//width=640] as per the instructions... although neither of these work for me! Do I need to remove any other brackets at the end?

God you'd think I didn't need to be up at 6am  ph34r

I put in the width=500 straight after the first IMG, inside the brackets and it seems to work fine.

Like this:

[IMG  width=500]http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u35/douglaj/DSC00069.jpg[/img]

Just one space between IMG and width should make it look like this?

I do that too but put 640 instead of 500

Its a gorgeous pic, they both are  :luv:

This is what it looks like normally (I've inserted speech marks inside the first and last brackets so it didn't come up as the image

["IMG]http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w298/Caro-B/DSCF0173-1.jpg[/IMG"]

This is what to do do resize (again it wouldn't normally have the speech marks)

["IMG width=480]http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w298/Caro-B/DSCF0173-1.jpg[/IMG"]  There is a space between IMG and width

So the pictures is like this:-

when you load onto photobucket you have resizing options - mine is set at 320 for posting on forums etc - it does them automatically for you  ;)

how do you all  resize your photos , mine are huge hugeeee when I upload onto my computer i use paint to resize  :-\ but i loose alot of quality and then when I upload onto photobucket i loose a load more  :-\ hows the best way to do it ? lovely photos btw

The instructions are in the threads above you paste the IMG tag from photobucket into here and add the width= command. Photobucket resizing doesn't often work

if you re-size in pb you must refresh the page before you post the link - that's why it often fails.

I also use Flock to upload my pics and they will auto resize to 640 x 480 when they do it.

download Flock as a browser and give it a go   ;)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I was putting the 640 in the wrong place in the code but I'm also going to give Flock a go too cos PB is doing my head in just now.

You have to leave a space between IMG and width, ie. IMG width=640
