Title: Charlie Needs A Home
Post by: PennyB on November 07, 2005, 10:45:22 AM
Charlie on dogpages (http://www.dogpages.org.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=92879)

This dog has been crossposted on behalf of Friends of the Shelter in South Wales (Porth). For anymore details please follow the link above and PM or email Eileen (dog is being fostered with her)

Charlie is a fantastic black Cocker Spaniel. His owners have moved abroad and were unable to take him with them. He was going to live with a family member and this fell through at the last moment and Charlie came here the same day as their move.

He is a wonderful, gentle softie. he is great with the other dogs and has shown no interest in the cats. He was brought up with children.

He loves going in the car and yesterday went to the beach where he rolled in the sand and had a great time splashing about in puddles. He is housetrained, eats well and is perfect in every way.

If you are able to offer this gentleman the home he deserves please his contact rescue via DP with details of your family, work commitments, other pets and home. You must be prepared to have a home visit and come to meet Charlie.

He looks lovely, but looks more like a cocker x poodle than a cocker spaniel lol.

Probably because he's older and neutered. One of mine gets mistaken for a cockerpoo sometimes before she needs clipping. Neutering thickens the coat and makes it woolly.

Charlie's pic, and yes he is a cocker (their coats change when they are neutered and left ungroomed as his was in this pic):

Charlie is looking for a foster home over the holidays, must be nearish South Wales though (and a homechecked fosterer), so I guess this is a longshot really. I have the mad puppy Barney in, which is more than enough

Penny,

Would it be too late for me to become a home checked fosterer?

I'd have him over the Christmas period.

If you go on to the dogpages site and PM Eileen and see what she says, you never know.

:(  :(

I can't have Charlie   :(

The rescue lady called me yesterday and we set up a meeting on Christmas Eve with a view to me fostering him for Christmas immediately.

But this morning at 6.15am we found that our adopted stray cat who lives in our shed has had a litter of kittens. We have taken Mum and kits into our bathroom from the cold but I really think it would be just too much to have Charlie aswell.

I feel really mean and selfish now, poor Charlie   :(

Aaawww Toni - you're not mean and selfish!!!!!!!!!  It just wasn't meant to be - and the cat and her kits need you and your house too - new-borns would not have a very good chance out in the cold so I think they probably need you more right now.

These things happen, and I know Eileen would understand (I was meant to take 2 pups from her over Christmas but Barney's still here and a bit of a handful!)

I can't log in to dog pages, so have just re-registered but it now tells me that it might take 24 hours before I can post.

I don't want to gazump anyone else, so if someone on here definitely wants to offer Charlie a forever home, please ignore this. AND let me know!

Steve has just heard about Charlie and says he wants him!!!!!!!

If Charlie is still looking could someone please let me have an email address for Eileen so that we can chat about him and arrange to meet up to check compatability etc

Thanks, I have sent a PM.

Hi Annette,

I've just PM'd you too.

He's in our house for Christmas but he's a real gentleman and would make someone a really lovely pet.

Fingers crossed you can have him, I'd love to watch his progress on COL!!!
